Pierre Gasly was the quickest in Practice at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Raffaele Marciello set the first flying lap, carrying on a tradition he usually follows in most Practice sessions. His time of 1:50.184 was soon beaten by a number of rivals.

After dominating post-season testing in Abu Dhabi last year, Pierre Gasly continued his blistering pace and set the first time of the day under the 1m49s barrier.

Dean Stoneman was hampered by Gustav Malja at turn six and was unable to improve from P16.

The rest of the session was very uneventful and few drivers made any improvements whatsoever. Pierre Gasly ended the session as the fasted driver with his lap time of 1:49.349. Stoffel Vandoorne and his team mate Nobuharu Matsushita rounded out the top three.
