GP3 regular Jimmy Eriksson will take part in the post-season GP2 tests in Abu Dhabi at the start of December.
Eriksson will drive the GP2/11 car for the very first time when testing takes place in the days after the final racing weekend of the season.
Trident will take Eriksson’s services on the first day of three with a switch to Arden happening for the final two.
“This is an incredible opportunity, and something I’ve been trying to make happen for some time,” Eriksson wrote on his Facebook page.
“I’ve won races in GP3, most recently in Sochi last month, and I can’t wait to test the GP2 car. I’m sure it will be quite intense on the first couple of laps, but I know the track and the characteristics of the Pirelli tyres from GP3, which should smoothen the learning process.
“I look forward to working with Trident and Arden and would like to thank them for this opportunity.”
The Swede has been competing in the GP3 Series since 2013 when he made his debut with Status Grand Prix. Failing to score a point he moved to Koiranen GP and challenged for the title the following year.
This season he remained with Koiranen and currently sits fifth in the Drivers’ Standings with two race weekends left this season.
GP2 post-season testing takes place between 2-4 December at the Yas Marina Circuit.
