Racing Engineering’s Alexander Rossi has won the Sochi Feature Race after it was shortened to just 15 laps.

Alex Lynn started the race from pole position and maintained his lead through the opening corners. Championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne tumbled from second to fifth by turn three before drama unfolded.

Artem Markelov ran off the circuit at turn two but clipped the wall when rejoining the track and caused a three car pileup with Marlon Stockinger and Sergio Canamasas. Jordan King crashed a few metres later after losing his front wing earlier in the lap. Both incidents caused a lengthy red flag period as repairs had to be made to barriers.

With sunset at 17:47 local time, the race was shortened to just 15 laps due to concerns the race would not finish in time.

Lynn led the field as the race resumed and pitted for fresh option tyres just two laps later. His rivals Vandoorne, Rossi and Pierre Gasly followed soon after.

Rejoining from the pits in the lead of the race, Lynn got too eager and crashed at turn 13 and handed the lead to Rossi. The American remained untouchable for the final few laps and secured his third victory in the last four races.

Gasly secured second place and made sure DAMS came away from the race with points while Vandoorne rounded out the podium with fastest lap.

After the race, it was decided that half points should be awarded to the top ten drivers.
