Alex Lynn has been penalised for causing a collision with rival Sergey Sirotkin in the Feature Race at Monza today.
The DAMS driver went for an optimistic lunge on Sirotkin for the de facto race lead after his pit stop. Dramatic contact was made and Lynn was tipped up onto two wheels. The incident ended with the pair retiring as a result of damage.
The stewards deemed that Lynn’s maneuver was too optimistic and dangerous and handed the Brit a five place grid penalty for his actions. As he can’t serve all the places, he will start the Sprint Race from the pits.
Jordan King will start the race from pole position, just like he did last time out in Belgium.
