Championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne finished Practice in Belgium as the fastest driver with a small advantage over a resurgent Mitch Evans.
Sergey Sirotkin and his team mate Robert Visoiu led the field out onto the circuit and it was the Russian driver who set the early pace with a 1:58.154. Alexander Rossi soon eclipsed his rival by two tenths of a second.
Brits Alex Lynn and Oliver Rowland jumped up into the top five with almost identical lap times while Stoffel Vandoorne took provisional top spot with a lap four tenths quicker than anyone else.
Bus Stop Chicane caught out Artem Markelov in the early stages of the session when the Russian lost control of the rear of his car. Debutante Gustav Malja suffered a similar problem and stalled his Trident while doing so. He took no part in the remainder of the session.
Pouhon was another corner causing drivers some problems. Daniël de Jong, Sergio Canamasas and Richie Stanaway were three drivers who ran wide at the fast left hander.
Practice ended after 45 minutes with home boy Stoffel Vandoorne quickest with a time of 1:57.486. The Belgian led Mitch Evans, Alexander Rossi, Alex Lynn and Oliver Rowland.
Arthur Pic crashed at T9 just as the checquered flag came out at the end of the session; the Frenchman had already set a lap time good enough for P8 in his Campos.
