An additional round of the 2015 championship in Bahrain has been added to the calendar and will take place just one week before the finale in Abu Dhabi.
The event will run over November 19-20-21 alongside the World Endurance Championship which is hosting its 6 Hours of Bahrain race on the same weekend.
This change to the calendar came about due to the German Grand Prix – originally scheduled for earlier this month – being cancelled.
“I am pleased to confirm that we have added Sakhir to our 2015 GP2 calendar in November,” GP2 Series CEO Bruno Michel said.
“Ever since the announcement of the cancellation of the German event, we have been working hard to try and add a round for our Series.”
GP2 Series organisers had been exploring different options to boost the season back up to eleven racing weekends with standalone events in Europe and Qatar being talked about.
The GP3 Series will accompany GP2 to Bahrain in November for the first time.
