Rio Haryanto has finished the practice session at Silverstone as the fastest driver ahead of Alex Lynn and points leader Stoffel Vandoorne.
The session began under glorious blue skies and numerous drivers had a spell at the top of the time sheets. Pierre Gasly and GP2 returnee Johnny Cecotto were two drivers to set the early pace but Racing Engineering’s Alexander Rossi headed the field after the first set of flying laps.
Stoffel Vandoorne managed to sit pretty at the top come the midway point in the session but Rio Haryanto used the empty track to his advantage to set the ultimate pace.
Jon Lancaster – who is returning to the Series this weekend – spun at turn two and ended the session 1.8 seconds down on Haryanto’s top pace.
In the final round of flyers, Alex Lynn was the only person to get close to Rio Haryanto’s session leading lap time of 1:40.659; the Briton was just 0.003 off the Indonesian driver.
At the fall of the checquered flag, Haryanto led ahead of: Lynn, Vandoorne, Yelloly, and Rossi.
