Artem Markelov has been excluded from the official Sprint Race results.
It was found by race scrutineers that the Russian’s car had less than one litre of fuel remaining at the end of the race. It is stated in the technical regulations that every car must have at least one litre of fuel remaining at the end of the race so a sample can be taken.
This exclusion from eighth place in the race promotes Alexander Rossi to the final points paying position and it cuts the American’s deficit to Stoffel Vandoorne down; albeit by just one point. The gap now stands at 76 points.
Markelov was not found to have caused a collision with Rio Haryanto which saw the Indonesian come out of the collision with damage.
