The final pre-season test has drawn to an end with DAMS driver Pierre Gasly on top of the time sheets.

Conditions this morning were a lot more favourable than yesterday’s with sunny skies and a clean track greeting the drivers. Stoffel Vandoorne was quickest on the soft tyre early on but the Belgian was soon displaced by Marco Sørensen, Mitch Evans, Nat Berthon and then Jordan King.

Lots of drivers had their moment as the quickest driver but Pierre Gasly ended the morning session fastest with a time of 1:39.632. The Frenchman sat in P1 ahead of Vandoorne, Evans, Alexander Rossi and Raffaele Marciello.

The final session of the pre-season testing period brought lots of race simulations and Norman Nato’s lap time of 1:41.97 remained unchallenged for the majority of the afternoon. With 30 minutes left in the session, Nato’s car caught fire out on track which sparked a red flag period. When the session restarted, Nigel Melker claimed top spot with a time of 1:41.566 and the day ended with Sergey Sirotkin in second place and Rio Haryanto in third place.

GP2 2015 kicks off in two weeks time at the Bahrain International Circuit when the Series will have its first event of the year alongside Bahrain Grand Prix.
