Jordan King has ended the first of three test days in Bahrain as the fastest driver.

The first day of the second test started at 9am local time and it was Japanese driver Nobuharu Matsushita who set the early pace along with André Negrão who took over the top spot from the ART man soon after. Sergio Canamasas showed his hand early on in the session as the Spaniard went fastest halfway through the morning.

With one hour left on the clock, Nat Berthon, Marco Sørensen and Norman Nato all had a stint at the top of the standings but it was Mitch Evans who ended the morning on top with a lap time of 1:42.179. The New Zealander led Nato, Sørensen, Berthon and Julián Leal.

After the lunch break, Stoffel Vandoorne was the first out onto the circuit but he didn’t set the early pace; Arthur Pic was fastest just before DAMS driver Alex Lynn stole the top spot for himself. Racing Engineering driver Jordan King moved a massive four tenths under his compatriot’s time before Sørensen and Nato did some time swapping at the top of the time sheets.

With just 30 minutes remaining on the clock, King set down a time of 1:41.494 which went unbeaten for the rest of the day. A red flag courtesy of Mitch Evans in the final ten minutes ended the session early.

The second day of the final test gets underway at 9am local time tomorrow with Nigel Melker boosting the field of cars up to 26 having not arrived in time to test with Hilmer today.
