Gasly fastest again as 2014 season concludes

Pierre Gasly Testing

The final day of the 2014 post-season test saw numerous driver changes.

Esteban Ocon in the DAMS car was the first driver to set the benchmark pace but Kevin Ceccon driving for Rapax soon demoted the Frenchman down a place. Pierre Gasly – the man who has been fastest all week so far – stamped his authority on the time sheets once again and later improved his own time by two more tenths to set a time of 1:49.346. This time remained unbeaten for the rest of the session.

Just like in the morning session, it was Esteban Ocon setting the early pace in the afternoon session. The Frenchman was not as quick as his compatriot’s time in the morning session but the times did start to tumble.

Nathanaël Berthon and Rio Haryanto both enjoyed some time at the top of the standings but Gasly came along after the pair to take P1 for himself. The Frenchman’s time of 1:48.231 was not bettered for the rest of the day as drivers mostly concentrated on long runs.

Only one red flag stopped today’s action and it was courtesy of Beitske Visser in the Lazarus who suffered a gearbox failure.

At the fall of the chequered flag it was Gasly ahead of team mate Ocon with fellow Frenchman Arthur Pic rounding out the top three. Jordan King and Sergey Sirotkin were in positions four and five while Haryanto, Dino Zamparelli, Berthon, Raffaele Marciello and Alex Lynn completed the final top ten of the day.
