Jolyon Palmer has said he would “love to get a role” with Force India for 2015.
The 2014 GP2 Champion tested with the Sahara Force India F1 Team for the first time today in Abu Dhabi and, after a successful day, is eyeing an opportunity to join the team “Sahara Force India is a team that gives young drivers good chances and I would love to get a role with them.”
Palmer referenced the team’s previous work with Paul di Resta and Jules Bianchi; both of whom were given FP1 session opportunities by the Silverstone-based team which assisted their graduation to F1 “They developed Paul Di Resta into a good racer, created a meaningful FP1 programme for Jules Bianchi and generally do a really good work with their reserve drivers.”
The Briton’s first time in an F1 car didn’t start off well when his first run was marred by a technical issue. As the day went on Palmer managed to rack up 37 laps in the VJM07 and set a fastest lap of 1:44.516.
