Artem Markelov has been handed a penalty by the stewards for causing a collision with Jon Lancaster in today’s 200th GP2 Series race.
The Russian driver was deemed to have caused a reckless collision on the first lap of the race today. Markelov retired and Lancaster lost several positions after coming to blows between turns three and four on the Hockenheimring.
The GP2 stewards handed Markelov a three place grid penalty for his actions but because he was classified as the last driver he is unable to serve the penalty. Instead he will start from the pit lane.
