Johnny Cecotto has confirmed that he will see out the 2014 GP2 season with Trident.
Due to recent financial threats from Venezuelan government officials, Johnny Cecotto’s seat in the Series has been in doubt. However, the Trident driver has received conformation from the Venezuelan government that he will be able to complete this season.
Cecotto made a series of Tweets on Wednesday evening regarding the situation turnaround; one of which thanking the President of Venezuela for the permission to fight until the championship end in Abu Dhabi. He goes on to thank his American oil exploration and production company sponsor Venoco for helping him through his career to date.
This news confirms that Trident will keep its current driver lineup after Sergio Canamasas was confirmed with the team until the end of 2014 last week.
