Facu Regalia has announced that he has left the Hilmer Motorsport team.
The Argentine driver released a statement reporting that he and the Force India backed Hilmer Motorsport team have parted ways after a testing start to the season mixed with budgetary issues.
Facu spoke to the Team Principal Franz Hilmer after the Sprint Race in Austria and the pair came to an agreement which saw the end to the contract. Regalia expressed his disappointment with the car he had been given by the team.
The first eight races have been very poor for Facu; a retirement in each of the four Feature Races and a highest finishing position of P17 in the Sprint Races.
Regalia will, however, remain a member of the Sahara Force India F1 Team in a driver development role and is now “evaluating proposals” to continue his career in GP2.
I have contacted both parties for further clarification on the matter.
